Electric Cooktop Installation & Repair

Gorey Electrical Service supply, install and repair electric and induction cooktops across Perth’s southern suburbs. Whether you’re replacing a tired cooktop with a new induction model or dealing with one that’s stopped working properly, our licensed electricians handle the job safely and to code.

Common issues we see include elements that won’t heat evenly, induction cooktops that won’t power on, cracked or scratched surfaces, and older circuits that aren’t rated for a new induction unit. We diagnose the fault, explain what’s actually needed, and only replace what needs replacing.

We work on cooktops in home kitchens, cafes, restaurants and commercial kitchens throughout the southern suburbs, matching the standard your kitchen needs whether it’s a Saturday morning fry-up or a busy dinner service.

Enquired about a 3 phase connection and was given good advice about the feasibility of it. They could have easily said they would come out to look and made money, but didn't. Highly recommend.

Ive used Gorey for years as my go to electrician for investment and industrial properties and the family home. We love it that you get to talk to a real person when you book and dont have to waste time leaving messages that never get returned like with most trades these days. the boys that come out and do the job are friendly and respectful and the job is done right every time. a family company with family values and service is what brings us back to them each time we do a renovation or encounter a fault. thank you!

Appliances & Cooktops We Install

Induction Cooktop

Induction cooktops are the latest in modern cooktop innovation. Magnetic coils under a glass surface generate heat directly within the pan. These cooktops offer superior control and fast, powerful heat. Kitchens throughout Perth are turning to induction for its superior efficiency, power, and easy cleaning.

Installing an induction cooktop usually means fitting a dedicated circuit, since these units draw more power than a standard cooktop point. We check your switchboard first, then fit and test the new circuit and cooktop, often in a single visit.

Ceramic Smoothtop

Ceramic smoothtop stoves are a cost-effective and popular choice for smaller homes and rentals. These cooktops employ electric coils under a ceramic glass surface. Modern ceramic smoothtops are quick to heat up and simple to clean.

Installation is usually straightforward, since most homes already have a suitable circuit from the old cooktop. We check the existing wiring meets current standards, connect the new unit, and test it before we leave.

Electric Coil Cooktop

Electric coil cooktops offer a reliable budget option for small homes, rentals, and semi-permanent kitchens. Their simple design lets electric coils directly heat pots and pans via direct contact. While many new homes prefer induction or smoothtop designs, we still maintain and repair reliable electric cooktops.

These are typically the simplest to install or replace, using the same circuit as the outgoing unit. We still isolate the power and check the connection properly before fitting the replacement.

FAQs

Yes. In WA, cooktop installation must be carried out by a licensed electrician, whether it’s electric coil, ceramic or induction. It’s a legal requirement, and it protects your home’s warranty and insurance. Our team holds full electrical contracting licences (EC1001) for every job.

Yes, it’s one of the most common jobs we do. Switching from gas means safely removing the old gas connection and running a new dedicated circuit for the electric or induction cooktop. We handle the full changeover, including checking your switchboard has the capacity for the new load.

Usually, yes. Induction cooktops draw more power than gas or older electric cooktops, so most homes need a new dedicated circuit from the switchboard. We check this at quote stage, so there are no surprises on the day.

It depends on the cooktop and whether new wiring is needed. Our rate is $150 an hour (incl. GST) for a licensed electrician, with travel included in the first hour and no separate call-out fee. We’ll confirm a fixed quote before any work starts.

Yes, we also supply electric cooktops. Our supplier has access to most popular brands, so let us know what you’re after and we can source it for you as well.
